About Double First and Engage

The admin portal of the Engage school management information systemFounded in 1987, Double First creates school information management systems, financial management packages for fee-paying independent schools.

The company's integrated suite of school software is called Engage. It includes Portals for Teachers, Pupils and Students and Parents; an iOS and Android school App for Parents, Fees, Assessment Reports, Examinations, Attendance, Curriculum, Timetable, Special Educational Needs, Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular Activity and Performance Tracking.

Complementing Engage, our Finance software is proven over many years in the school market.

Engage has international capabilities including the ability for the database to support worldwide character sets. Double First received the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2016 and has specialist knowledge of school requirements in 33 countries including the UK, US, Europe, Middle East, Far East, Australia and Southern Africa.

Double First also offers consultancy, training, data conversion, network security analysis, best practice advice, expert support and free upgrades.

The company is UK headquartered and all development tales place in Great Britain. It also has subsidiaries to support its operations overseas. These are Double First Ltd (Singapore Branch) and Engage School Management Systems (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Working to support independent school Heads, Double First is actively endorsed by Independent Schools Association (ISA) and holds associate memberships with ACAMIS, BSME, COBIS, EARCOSFOBISIA and the ISASA. We also attend many of the conferences of other leading associations including BSAHMC, IAPS, ISBA, GSA, NABSS and The Society of Heads.

Support Services Consultant (Finance Trainer)

The purpose of the role is to provide full support and training of Double First products to schools, ensuring excellence of customer service and adherence to the company’s processes and systems. The position will report to the Training Manager, Miriam Sparrow-Wallis, and will be based at Double First Limited, Yeovil office.

Duties include the following:

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with clients during the course of day-to-day duties to ensure a long-term commitment to Double First and its products.
  • Take inbound customer support calls and assume responsibility for following up, ensuring that all problems are provided with a solution.
  • Ensure all support calls, user suggestions and bug reports are accurately recorded using the company’s support systems.
  • Manage personal workload ensuring that all outstanding support calls meet defined procedures and SLAs. Escalate calls that will breach SLAs or might be otherwise problematic to the Support Services Senior Consultant (Finance).
  • Undertake 1-2-1 and group training of Double First customers, remotely and on-site.
  • Produce post training reports following each session according to company processes.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of syllabus-based training material to support the delivery of training for the Double First software.
  • Assist in the production of product documentation including videos and webinar sessions.
  • Maintain knowledge of Double First software and undertake ongoing training and development of personal skills including accounting practice.

Role Requirements are:

Excellent IT literacy with sound working knowledge of MS Office products




Basic Knowledge of working with MS SQL and using Crystal Reports and Stimulsoft




Sound working knowledge of Engage, Double First Accounts and Payroll


Desirable on application, essential in role


Sound understanding and practical experience of accounting practice




Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, flexibly, under pressure, including a mix of own projects and management




Excellent customer service abilities and instincts




Good team worker




Excellent coaching skills




Ability to influence peers and internal staff




Clean driving licence and ability to drive cars in the UK and

overseas to visit clients as required




Ability to spend periods of time overseas as required to visit international clients and company offices




Possess a training qualification or demonstrate significant experience in this area
