About Double First and Engage

The admin portal of the Engage school management information systemFounded in 1987, Double First creates school information management systems, financial management packages for fee-paying independent schools.

The company's integrated suite of school software is called Engage. It includes Portals for Teachers, Pupils and Students and Parents; an iOS and Android school App for Parents, Fees, Assessment Reports, Examinations, Attendance, Curriculum, Timetable, Special Educational Needs, Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular Activity and Performance Tracking.

Complementing Engage, our Finance software is proven over many years in the school market.

Engage has international capabilities including the ability for the database to support worldwide character sets. Double First received the prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2016 and has specialist knowledge of school requirements in 33 countries including the UK, US, Europe, Middle East, Far East, Australia and Southern Africa.

Double First also offers consultancy, training, data conversion, network security analysis, best practice advice, expert support and free upgrades.

The company is UK headquartered and all development tales place in Great Britain. It also has subsidiaries to support its operations overseas. These are Double First Ltd (Singapore Branch) and Engage School Management Systems (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Double First is proud to be the winner of The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2016.

Working to support independent school Heads, Double First is actively endorsed by Independent Schools Association (ISA) and holds associate memberships with ACAMIS, BSME, COBIS, EARCOSFOBISIA and the ISASA. We also attend many of the conferences of other leading associations including BSAHMC, IAPS, ISBA, GSA, NABSS and The Society of Heads.

Apprentice Data Migration Operative

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a high level of accuracy to join our software development team based in Yeovil.

Purpose of the Role

  • To migrate data from 3rd party systems in to Double First products

Desired skills

  • Accuracy and a keen eye for detail
  • Data manipulation
  • Previous experience of SQL and Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience of coding such as VB.NET or C#

Personal qualities

  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to spot mistakes in own work
  • High levels of concentration
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team

Qualifications required

  • GCSE A-C/ 4-9 or equivalent in English and maths
  • Ideally a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in IT.

Training to be provided

  • Technical Certificate – designed to improve your knowledge and understanding of specific topics related to your trade.
  • National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) – achieved through the tasks you do at work, NVQs are proof of your ability and practical skills.
  • Functional Skills– general skills that are used in every job, such as Communication and Application of Number.
